Did You Know You Can See a Physical Therapist Without a Referral?
In all 50 states, you can schedule a visit with one of our therapists to get help sooner rather than later. Whether you’re struggling with lingering pain from an old injury or you only hurt yourself yesterday, Direct Access guarantees your access.
Direct Access refers to the ability of patients to seek and receive physical therapy services without needing a referral or prescription from a physician or other healthcare provider.
Direct Access benefits patients in several ways:
- Faster access to care: Patients can immediately consult with our physical therapists in Leander, Austin, Salado, Temple, Burleson, Harker Heights, Killeen, and Copperas Cove, TX without waiting for a referral, allowing treatment to begin sooner and potentially shortening recovery times.
- Reduced healthcare costs: Direct Access can eliminate the need for multiple appointments with different healthcare providers, thereby reducing overall healthcare costs. Early intervention through physical therapy may also prevent the need for more expensive treatments, tests, or procedures later on.
- Streamlined care: Our physical therapists are highly trained healthcare professionals who evaluate and treat musculoskeletal and movement-related issues. Direct Access allows you to receive specialized care from the most appropriate healthcare provider, resulting in more focused and effective treatment.
- Enhanced patient autonomy: Direct Access empowers you to take greater control over your healthcare decisions and choose the most appropriate care for your needs.

FAQs
Can I continue seeing a therapist even when I feel better?
The short answer is–Absolutely! In fact, at Integrity Rehab, we actually encourage you to continue seeing your physical therapist even after your symptoms appear to have resolved.
Why? Because often, even though you feel better, you may still not be fully rehabilitated. Furthermore, regular physical therapy can prevent future injury or pain while helping you optimize your overall physical performance and function.
Physical therapy is a comprehensive and ongoing process, not a one-and-done. Even after you’ve completed your initial round of treatment, our therapists can help you develop a personalized maintenance plan that ensures you’re continuing to maximize your potential, even after your recovery.
Here’s an example of maintenance plans that allow you to continue enjoying physical therapy’s many benefits:
- Your therapist assigns you a series of specialized at-home exercises so you can continue to strengthen your muscles and improve your range of motion.
- You come in for a re-evaluation after a month to ensure your home exercise program is working as intended.
- You schedule check-in appointments at regular intervals (such as every six months) to ensure you haven’t regressed and to address any new developments.
Our therapists will also develop a return-to-activity schedule so you can safely return to your favorite sport or workout program without risking reinjury. A return-to-activity schedule involves gradually increasing the intensity of certain movements until you can operate as usual.
The physical therapists at Integrity Rehab are here to help you succeed–even after you’ve completed your treatment. To get started, request an appointment today!
Can I go to any occupational therapists I choose?
As a patient, you can choose the occupational therapy clinic that best meets your needs and goals. This is known as the "Patient's Bill of Rights," a set of guidelines that outlines your rights and responsibilities as a patient.
It’s essential to choose a clinic with licensed and experienced occupational therapists specializing in your condition or injury. You may also want to consider location, hours of operation, and insurance coverage when choosing a clinic.
At Integrity Rehab, we are committed to upholding the Patient's Bill of Rights and providing high-quality, results-oriented care that meets your individual needs and goals. We believe in empowering our patients to participate actively in their treatment and decision-making process.
Our Integrity Rehab occupational therapists keep up to date with the latest research and technology to ensure you’re receiving the best possible care. We’ll work closely with you and your healthcare team to develop a personalized treatment plan that reflects your unique situation and goals.
Whether recovering from an injury or managing a chronic condition, occupational therapy can help you achieve your goals and take the first step toward improving your quality of life.
Can I go to any physical therapy clinic I want?
Absolutely! According to "The Patient's Bill of Rights" law, you can choose what physical therapy clinic you want for your care. While physicians or insurance carriers may recommend a specific clinic, you are not obligated to follow their suggestions. Your fundamental patient rights protect your ability to make informed decisions about your treatment and ensure you are treated with respect and confidentiality.
